Gardens
Prehistoric Gardens has been family owned
and operated since 1955 and has delighted audiences with its
scientifically accurate dinosaur replicas located in the temperate
rain forest of Oregon. With the passing of the founder Ernie
Nelson in 1999, Kiki McGrath owner
of Prehistoric Gardens faced the challenge of how to refocus
and update Nelson's vision for the Twenty-first century.
Alien Tongue visited the gardens and
worked with Ms. McGrath to assess tourism trends, visitor
data and the current state of the brand. The Five year strategic
operations and business plan documents three objectives.
First, how Prehistoric Gardens will increase
revenues. Two, how Prehistoric Gardens will update their
brand to further Nelson's vision, accommodate the research
gains made in paleontology and botany of the temperate rain
forest and more boldly assert its commitment to the environment.
Third, how the Prehistoric Gardens brand will be unified
across all media not only to visitors but also through advertising
and to a much larger Web audience.
